Attic Insulation in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware
Cut Costs with Expert Attic Insulation Services
If you can see your attic joists, it is a good indication that you may not have enough insulation. Insufficient attic insulation can be a costly waste of energy in your home. Proper insulation should be between 10 to 14 inches deep. If it’s any lower, we can help. When re-insulation is done properly the installation can very quickly pay for itself.
We offer both attic insulation assessment and installation.
At ServiceMark Solutions, we are proud to provide attic insulation services to Doylestown, West Chester, Berwyn, Landsdale, Pottstown, Havertown, Wilmington, Dover, Elkton and more.

One of the best ways to reduce your utility bills and improve the energy efficiency of your home is to keep your attic adequately insulated. If your home is relatively new, the insulation is probably sufficient; but if you own an older home, you may want to inspect the insulation to see if it needs to be updated. Generally, if you can see the top of the floor joists, the insulation layer isn’t thick enough. A thick layer of insulation has a higher R-Value, which is its resistance to heat flow. Products with higher R-Values are more energy efficient. If you decide to update your insulation, here are some of the most common forms available.
Batts and Blankets
The most common form of insulation is made from fiberglass and comes in blanket rolls or batts. This type of insulation comes in a variety of sizes and R-Values. Batts are pre-cut pieces of insulation that are made to fit neatly between your home’s framing. Blankets are large rolls of insulation that are cut into different sizes and placed wherever they are needed. Both batts and rolls tend to compress over time, reducing the R-value.
Loose-Fill Insulation
Loose-fill insulation, the preferred type of ServiceMark Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, is made from cellulose, rock wool or fiberglass and is also known as blown-in insulation. With this method, a machine is used to blow loose bits of material over the entire area. As the material is blown out, it puffs up and sticks together to form a thick layer of insulation. The biggest advantage of using loose-fill insulation is that it can easily cover hard-to-reach spaces in the attic. Because special equipment is necessary to complete the installation, consult the experts at ServiceMark Heating, Cooling and Plumbing. This type of insulation tends to be slightly more expensive than batts and blankets, but is well worth the investment!
Spray Foam
Spray foam is one of the newest forms of insulation on the market, and is also more expensive than the others. However, it does make your home very energy efficient. Basically, polyurethane is sprayed all over the attic ceiling. As the polyurethane dries, it expands to form a thick layer of insulation above the room. In this case, the layer actually raises your home’s building envelope and makes it extremely airtight. Spray foam is also a good choice if you plan to turn your attic into a living space.
We can help you determine the correct amount of insulation needed to help you save money and keep you comfortable. By comparing the different types of insulation, you can choose the one that fits your budget and your needs. We are here to guide you through the entire process.
