SERVING LOCAL FAMILIES, LIKE YOURS, FOR OVER 60 YEARS!
Packaged central air conditioning units offer an “all-in-one” solution for homeowners, with most of the components for cooling and/or heating housed within a single cabinet. In most cases, the equipment is located outside and does not need to take up any space inside the home or business.
The outside unit, comprised of a compressor, evaporative coil and blower, cools the air, and then pushes conditioned air through the duct system. The equipment is usually located at ground level, but in cases where space is at a premium, the equipment may be installed on the building’s roof.
With some modern home designs, including modular and mobile construction, this type of air conditioning installation may be required since indoor space is very limited. Packaged systems also come in a range of efficiency rating options. The installations are very economical, and can usually be completed in just one day.
Packaged systems can also include a heat component and both cool and heat the structure. Some examples are packaged units that use an electric coil to heat air, and others can use natural gas or propane as the heating energy source. A packaged system can also be a special hybrid system where the packaged unit is a heat pump, which is used for summer cooling and winter heating. BUT, when the temperature dips far below the freezing mark, the second energy source is used, which can help keep operating costs lower.
